Suzuki Postdoctoral Fellowship Award 2021-2022

Two postdocs, Aleksandr Lykhin and Koushambi Mitra, have been named recipients of the 2021-2022 Suzuki Postdoctoral Fellowship Award. Yuji Suzuki, SM’70, a longtime supporter and former Council member of the Physical Sciences Division, established the Yuji and Lorraine Suzuki Postdoctoral Research Fund in 2016 to recognize outstanding postdoctoral researchers. The award provides a salary top-off.

Aleksandr Lykhin

Aleksandr Lykhin joined the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Chemistry in 2020. Previously, Lykhin served as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He earned his PhD in chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno. Lykhin works in Prof. Laura Gagliardi’s group, focusing on the development of multireference electronic structure theories and modeling photochemical processes.

Koushambi Mitra

Koushambi Mitra joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral researcher in 2020. Previously, she worked as a postdoctoral scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University and at the University of Texas at Dallas. Mitra obtained her Integrated PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 2016. She now works in Prof. Yamuna Krishnan’s research group to develop organelle-targeted fluorescent probes for quantitative imaging and drug delivery in living cells and organisms.
