Two students have been honored by the Enrico Fermi Institute with Nathan Sugarman Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate and Graduate Research.
These awards, which are now in their 28th year, are given in honor of Prof. Nathan Sugarman, who was a pioneer in the field of nuclear chemistry, and a charter member of the Enrico Fermi Institute. He was also a long-time member of the Chemistry department. The awards were endowed by generous gifts from the friends and family of Sugarman, following his death in 1990.
The recipients are Adel Rahman, a fourth-year student in the College, and Evan Angelico, a graduate student in the department of physics.
Rahman was cited “For his work on the structure of black hole horizons and the definition and characterization of a ‘memory effect’ for black holes.” Rahman was nominated by Prof. Bob Wald.
Angelico was cited “For his deep and broad contributions to the development of picosecond time of flight measurements of neutrinos, charged particles, and photons in nuclear and particle physics.. Angelico was nominated by Prof. Henry Frisch.
