May 2020 Spotlight
PSD’s May spotlight is Susan Hearth, Divisional Administrator for the PSD Dean’s Office. Susan has been with UChicago for five years and was a high school teacher for a decade before coming to UChicago.

How long have you been at the university?
5 years
What do you enjoy about being a part of the PSD community?
I enjoy the people. The PSD is filled with intelligent, thoughtful, and professional staff, faculty, academics & students who are a joy to work with. I also enjoy the collaboration within the PSD. People work well together to get a task, project, or deadline met with success.
Tell us a bit about you.
I enjoy the educational environment as my workplace. I enjoy knitting and crocheting during the winter months. I have lived in Northwest Indiana my entire life and I love living near Lake Michigan. I enjoy walking on the beach and exploring the National Parks near the lake.
Who inspires you?
I'm not inspired by one person. I find inspiration in everyone around me.
What is the most interesting thing that you are working on right now?
My home.
What does diversity and inclusion mean to you?
Diversity means enjoying people around me who have differing backgrounds and differing views and thoughtfully listening and incorporating all perspectives people bring. Inclusion means that every day I need to remember to open the door to opportunities to everyone around me.
