UChicago astrophysicist Daniel Holz discusses the recent detection of gravitational waves that astronomers believe was created when a black hole swallowed a neutron star on WTTW . The phenomenon was detected by the twin LIGO observatories in U.S. and the Virgo detector in Italy on April 26. If confirmed, it would be the first evidence of binary systems from black holes and neutron stars pairing up.
