Over 180 researchers joined the MCAW 2023 (Midwest Cold Atom Workshop) held at the University of Chicago November 3–4, 2023, to discuss their research interest in tutorials, invited talks, and poster presentations, and to brainstorm on the future of quantum science with atoms and molecules.
The MCAW meeting was initiated in 2005 by scientists at UChicago, UIUC, and Argonne National Lab with about 20 participants. It has grown to the present size with researchers from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Purdue University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Northwestern University, Kenyon College, Miami University, and more.
The MCAW 2023 is organized by Hannes Bernien (PME), Cheng Chin (Physics), and David DeMille (Physics), and is sponsored by the Department of Physics, the James Franck Institute, the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, NSF HQAN (Hybrid Quantum Architectures and Networks), and industrial partners AOSense, Infleqtion, and Vescent.
