AI, Creativity, and the Limits of Data, with Jason Salavon

2:00 pm Eckhardt Research Center, 161

5640 S. Ellis Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637

You are invited to a lecture by Jason Salavon, artist and Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts, and creator of Still Life (Morandi's Infinite Shelf), currently on display in the atrium of Eckhardt Research Center.

In his talk AI, Creativity, and the Limits of Data, Professor Salavon will explore his evolving art practice, which navigates the interplay between autonomous computational processes and traditional creative methods. He will present a range of projects, with a focus on his recent efforts to push AI models to create imagery "off-manifold," challenging the boundaries of generative AI. Professor Salavon will also consider the broader impact of new technologies on visual culture, including the rapid rise of AI-driven digital art, and discuss how these innovations are reshaping the creative landscape.

The lecture will be held on Monday, January 13 at 2:00pm in ERC 161, followed by a reception. Please RSVP here: https://forms.gle/PRtJpiLUTv6iQUZi6.
