Graduation Events

The University-wide Convocation will take place on June 3, 2023 at 9:15 am on the Main Quadrangle. The University-wide Convocation brings together graduates from across all schools and divisions. The University president will verbally confer degrees on candidates by division.

The Physical Sciences Division will host two separate ceremonies: an MS diploma ceremony and a PhD diploma ceremony. Degree candidates will be honored individually at these ceremonies through the presentation of diplomas or hoods.

Students who graduated or will graduate in Summer Quarter 2022, Autumn Quarter 2022, Winter Quarter 2023, Spring Quarter 2023, and Summer Quarter 2023 are eligible to participate in these events.

Please note: PhD students who receive their transitional Master’s degree during their studies do not participate in the MS Diploma Ceremony. Instead, these students are invited to participate in the PhD Diploma and Hooding ceremony when they receive their PhD degree.

Students and families are encouraged to attend both events, but attendance at both is not required. To participate in the Divisional diploma ceremonies, students and alumni must register using the online form (available below).
